Parenting Tools Introduction
You can easily download these FREE, simple, effective parenting tools for your family. Hopefully the short or longer explanations are enough to get you started. But, remember, for any new tool to be effective, the parent needs to be prepared ahead of time, and constantly on the look-out for the desired new behavior in your child, and reinforce that new behavior with praise.
As always, I am happy to come in person or virtually to your school, church, place of employment or wherever you have a group of parents who want to learn more about bringing the joy into parenting.

Morning MotivatorOne morning after a crazy, hectic send-off trying to get everyone out the door to meet the school bus, I decided things were going to change! The Morning Motivator was born! This simple tool changed our mornings, nighttime bedroom issues and was huge in helping our children learn to manage money (tithing, savings and spending). Most every family, including my own, have loved this amazing, yet simple, tool and it is easy to adapt to your own family’s needs.
Ages: 5-12 yrs. Old
Stop SignThis is a tool we kept on our refrigerator for probably eight years! Each side of the Stop Sign gives a specific reason why parents say NO to behavior and over time your children will learn for themselves the 8 reasons. Then, in time, they will know when and why to say NO to their friends.
The best part is, you will say NO less often as you learn to turn the request/behavior around and ask them what they think the best response would be. I have also prepared some Bible verses for each of the 8 sides if you would like to use these too with this effective tool. This, and the Morning Motivator, “tie” for my favorite, effective parenting tools for most families! Ages: 3-10 yrs. old

star chart - "Yes Mom!"Have you ever asked your children to do something, especially if they are engrossed in their own activity, and there is NO answer and NO ONE moves?
That is why I created this tool! The best part is the “star” does not represent money, candy or any tangible reward, instead it equals a specific number of minutes with YOU doing an activity of THEIR choice. Hearing immediately the answer, “Yes, Mom” and then seeing them follow through on the request, was a delightful change in our family. Beware: For this tool to work well, parents need to be tuned in to immediate obedience so stars can be added quickly and there are enough “minutes” added up to make it a fun reward for each child. As with many of the tools, it can “work” quickly, so have in mind what you will do when children are quickly obeying and it has become a habit and you may not need it any more. Ages: 2 1/2 – 7, but can be reinforced thru teen yrs.
Plane PeaceNervous about flying with your baby or toddler? No matter how much we plan, prepare and provide for our little traveler, there is always that chance the peace of other passengers might be interrupted by the “sweet” voice of our little one. Spend a little time preparing 8 Plane Peace packets for each flight, and your trip will hopefully be a fun adventure for everyone!
Ages: infant – 2 yr old

Testimonials ~ On Parenting Tools
“My children are now 14, 12, 10 and 5. I have saved Sherri’s Stop Sign and other handouts on getting ready in the morning (Morning Motivator), having a Thankful Heart, and specifics on Discipline, all from 12 years ago! As a mom, I have always struggled with impatience, anger and control. These tools helped me to slow down, explain and pinpoint the “offense” so I could lovingly train my children in the right way to go. I will always remember what Sherri said: if we see a problem—something that is driving us crazy—like getting ready in the morning, we need to stop and then plan out a solution. In other words, don’t just react to the problem when it happens, but proactively plan a creative solution. That has always helped me!”
